The mats

One mat for each kind of trip.

Each mat is printed with a life-size outline of every item to pack for that trip. Reusable year after year. The layouts below are examples of the idea.

Road Trip

Long drives need the small things within reach. Charging, snacks, kids entertainment and the emergency kit, laid out so nothing is left on the hall table.

  • Cabin comforts
  • Chargers and navigation
  • Emergency basics

How it works

Lay it out. Fill it in. Roll up and go.

Packing without the mental load. You can see the mat is complete, so there is no "did we bring...?" on the highway.

  1. Lay out

Unroll the mat for your trip on the floor, bed or boot. Every item has its own outline, drawn life-size.

  2. Fill in

Place each item on its outline. An empty outline is a missing item, so you can see what is left without reading a list.

  3. Roll up

When every outline is covered, the mat is complete. Roll it up with the gear, pack the car and go.

  4. Reuse

Put it away for the next trip. The mat is reusable year after year, so there is no list to rewrite.

Why a mat

Written checklists are easy to skim and easy to forget.

Situation Written checklist Layout & Go mat
Seeing what is missing Read down a list and tick items off from memory An empty outline shows the gap at a glance
Preparing for each trip Rewrite or reprint the checklist every time Use the same mat for that trip type, again and again
Sharing the load One person holds the list in their head Anyone can see what is left and help fill it in
Knowing you are done You hope the list was complete Every outline covered means the mat is complete

Questions

Straight answers.

What is a Layout & Go packing mat?

A trip-specific mat printed with a life-size outline of every item to pack. You lay it out, place each item on its outline, then roll up and go.

Which trips will the mats cover?

We are starting with Camping, then Beach Day with Kids and Road Trip.

Can I buy one yet?

Not yet. Layout & Go is launching soon. Join the launch list and we will email you when the first mats are ready.

Is it reusable?

Yes. The mat is designed to be reused year after year, so you do not rewrite a checklist for each trip.

How is this different from a printable checklist?

A checklist asks you to read and remember. A mat lets you see what is missing: an empty outline is an item still to pack.
